Columbia, South Carolina [Nov. 8, 2021] – Initial work has begun on the construction of a Fisher House in Columbia, South Carolina for the Columbia VA Health Care System. This house will allow veteran families to stay free of charge while a loved one receives medical care, supporting up to 16 families on any given night.
11/08/2021 Bay Pines VA Healthcare System begins construction on a second Fisher House
Bay Pines, Florida [Nov. 8, 2021] – Initial work has begun on the construction of a second Fisher House in Bay Pines, Florida for the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. This house will increase the capacity for Veteran families to stay free of charge while receiving medical care, allowing the two houses to support up to 25 families on any given night. This will be the 9th house in Florida supporting both active duty and Veterans.

On Feb. 22, 2021, my husband and I found out that our baby had stopped growing in utero. I was 30 weeks along and our baby was only measuring 1.8 pounds and had fallen to the 2% in growth. We were terrified that we might lose our baby (my first). When I left my house that afternoon to check in the hospital, I had no idea that I wouldn’t see my house again for many weeks. I had developed preeclampsia and there was a blockage in my umbilical cord, so our baby wasn’t getting the nutrients needed to grow.
