Whataburger to donate more than $100,000 to Fisher House

Whataburger Restaurants LP    will present a check for $105,000 this Friday to Ken Fisher, chairman of the Fisher House Foundation    at the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce    ’s 41st annual Celebrate America’s Military event.

The chamber is hosting a luncheon at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel to kick-off Celebrate America’s Military, a month-long celebration. This past fall, Whataburger and Coca-Cola  released a series of limited-edition Classic Cups sold in the company’s more than 700 restaurants. For each cup sold, Whataburger donated five cents to the Fisher House. The check for $105,000 represents the amount of money raised in the Classic Cup campaign.

Whataburger Chairman Tom Dobson and CEO Preston Atkinson are presenting the check. The Fisher House Foundation provides dozens of homes away from home so that military families can be close to a loved one during hospitalization. The San Antonio Fisher House provides lodging to families of wounded soldiers undergoing treatment at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

Whataburger is a San Antonio-based hamburger chain with more than $1 billion in sales.
