The 20-suite Fisher House will provide a free, temporary refuge for families supporting their loved one hospitalized for wounds, injuries, or illnesses. The second Palo Alto Fisher House is expected to open by early 2019.
“There is no greater partner for VA and Veterans than Fisher House,” said Tony Fitzgerald, Director, VA Palo Alto Health Care System. “On behalf of all Veterans who can heal with their loved ones by their side, I say thank you to Fisher House and the communities that support their mission. The impact you make on the lives of Veterans and their families is immeasurable.”
The first Fisher House at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System opened in April 2006. Fisher House I has served over 10,000 families since then, and regularly has a waiting list. A second Fisher House will expand daily capacity to forty families.
