Charity for Military Families Receives Large Donation from Limited Edition Watch Sales

WILTON, CONN. (September 7, 2012) – A luxury watchmaker with a long history of armed-services support has just donated $160,000 to help United States military veterans. Breitling, with its passion for both professional aviation and community outreach, gave 100 percent of proceeds from their special-edition American Tribute Watch to Fisher House Foundation, which constructs comfort homes to provide free, temporary housing to the families of service members needing medical care across the country.

The $160,000 was presented to CEO President of Fisher House Foundation, Ken Fisher, by Breitling USA President Thierry Prissert during a private ceremony in New York City, today.

Throughout its long history, Breitling’s passion for aviation is well documented. Over time, the close links with the armed services has enabled Breitling to count on this professional advice in designing its products to military standards of functional excellence and reliability. "Breitling is honored to help Fisher House Foundation through sales of the American Tribute Watch,” said Prissert, who has been President of Breitling USA since 2010. “And to see Fisher House Foundation giving back to those who give so much is both humbling and inspiring.”

Breitling produced the American Tribute Watch at an exclusive limited quantity of 50 pieces. The timepiece became available for purchase on Veteran’s Day of 2011 at the brand’s boutiques in Manhattan, New York and Aventura, Florida.

Based on the current Breitling Chronomat 44 watch, the Breitling American Tribute Watch features Caliber 01, the exclusive 100 percent in-house chronograph movement created by Breitling. The 50 limited pieces were individually numbered and feature a commemorative etching on the back of the watch face, paying tribute to American Veterans with the statement “Breitling for America. United We Stand.”
