DMI (DMInc.com), a leading IT solutions and business strategy consulting firm, announced today that it is joining the Fisher House in its mission of serving the families of wounded servicemen and women being treated at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
DMI's support of the Fisher House includes providing and serving monthly lunches, donating needed "wish list" items of housewares and consumables, and providing regular onsite IT help desk and network support services. On the first Wednesday of every month, DMI's team of volunteers will serve lunch and spend time visiting with Fisher House residents. The volunteer team will also provide IT assistance to residents and address IT infrastructure needs of the Fisher House.
"Supporting our nation's heroes and their families through the Fisher House is an opportunity that our team has fully embraced," said Sunny Bajaj, DMI's President and CEO. "Many of our colleagues have served in the military, and we maintain close ties to the military community through our program support of mission-critical initiatives."
The Fisher House Foundation maintains homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers that enable family members to be close to loved ones during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. Members of the military must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, which adds complicated and expensive logistics onto an already stressful time for patients and their families. In 2011, the Fisher House program (www.fisherhouse.org) served 17,000 families and saved them more than $25 million in lodging, food and transportation costs.
