Francis Pohlman Post 685 in Brussels held its last meeting Nov. 9. A representative, James Donahue, from the Fisher House in St. Louis spoke to the Legion and Auxiliary members. The purpose of the Fisher House is to provide temporary lodging for veteran’s families during a medical crisis. There is no fee for families staying at the house. This facility is a 16,000 sq. ft. home with 20 private guest suites. Everything is provided to families by volunteers including a well-stocked kitchen.

This Fisher House is located on the Jefferson Barracks campus overlooking the Mississippi River. Anyone wishing to contribute may send a tax exempt donation made out to Fisher House in St. Louis and mail to: Fisher House, VA Medical Center, #1 Jefferson Barracks Rd., St. Louis, Mo. 63125. For more information you can call Ms. Rachael Fernandez the house manager at 314-894-6145.

James Donahue stressed how much your contributions help these service members, veterans and their families at a time when they need it most. Commander Bernard Snyders thanked him for speaking to the members and presented him with a check for $250 to the Fisher House from the Legion Post. Now would be a good time before the end of the year to send a donation to such a worthy cause.
