California Morning Show Team Rallies its Audience to Support Fisher House Foundation
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 14, 2011) – The morning show team of Jack Armstrong and Joe Getty, whose morning show is heard on Clear Channel Radio's KSTE/Sacramento and KNEW/San Francisco, rallied its California audience to raise $382,000 on Friday, November 11, 2011 – Veterans Day – to support the efforts of Fisher House Foundation, which constructs comfort homes to provide free, temporary housing to the families of service members receiving medical care at VA and military hospitals around the world.
The amazing one day tally was more than half of the nationwide total of nearly $700,000 raised through “Operation Fisher House,” a nationwide week-long set of promotions that culminated in a radio telethon on Veterans Day, November 11, sponsored by long-standing partner Clear Channel Radio and carried on its more than 850 radio stations in the United States.
“Jack and Joe’s efforts on behalf of our military families was just tremendous and was a true demonstration of the love America has for its troops,” said David Coker, President of Fisher House Foundation. “We’re grateful to everyone in Northern California who supported us.”
From Monday, Nov. 7 through Nov. 11, 2011, all 850 Clear Channel stations promoted the second annual Operation Fisher House and encouraged listeners to tune in to the main fundraising event on Veterans Day. Clear Channel encouraged donations via online or text message to the Fisher House Foundation through live discussions, on-air mentions, interviews and a series of public service announcements.
Over the last two years Clear Channel has raised nearly $1 million for Fisher House and has collectively donated media valued at more than $5 million.
“Clear Channel is committed to addressing issues that engage and impact our listeners across the United States,” said Jessica King, Clear Channel’s Director of Community Engagement. “A recent study shows that more Americans are involved with supporting troops than any other social issue today, and it is important for Clear Channel to support organizations that our listeners care about – like Fisher House.”
