Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), yesterday presented Fisher House Foundation with a check for $100,000 at the 133rd NGAUS Conference & Exhibition in Milwaukee, Wis. Funds were raised through a campaign where signatures were collected at various events across the country over the past year. Oshkosh committed a $2 donation to the foundation for each signature obtained, reaching $100,000 this past weekend.

Fisher House Foundation serves more than 12,000 military families each year by helping fund visits to injured relatives. The organization has provided more than three million days of free lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990.

“We’ve reached the culmination of the Oshkosh Defense Signature Campaign and we are proud to present this check for $100,000 to Fisher House Foundation,” said Mike Ivy, vice president and general manager of Army Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “Fisher House Foundation supports the men, women and families of the U.S. Military during the trying times of injury and recovery. We’re pleased to build greater awareness for the mission of Fisher House Foundation and help give back to those military families who have contributed so much in their service to this country.”

"The vehicles produced by Oshkosh Defense are instrumental in protecting our service men and women” said Ken Fisher, Chairman and CEO, Fisher House Foundation. “Many family members have found comfort in a Fisher House while their loved ones healed in our military and VA medical centers but it was often the safeguards afforded by Oshkosh design that shielded our warriors and allowed them to leave the battlefield. Fisher House is proud to partner with Oshkosh Defense and grateful for their support and generosity."

Early next month, Oshkosh will also help commemorate the grand opening of a new Fisher House in Washington, D.C. The company donated $200,000 in 2010 to help build the house, which will serve as a “home away from home” for family members visiting injured military personnel at the Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center.

Oshkosh Defense has a long-standing history of supporting military members and families, both in the field and back at home, through charitable giving and program support. The company has partnered with organizations such as USO, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Wounded Warrior Project, Our Military Kids and others. Oshkosh actively recruits and employs a high ratio of veterans who are advancing their civilian careers and currently employs more than 300 guard, reserve and retired military members.
