Community leaders and the Wright-Patterson community celebrate a new addition to the base.

Fisher House II replaces the Nightingale House, which was demolished on February 14, 2011. This change will add 1,460 bed nights a year, bringing its capacity to 7,665 bed nights a year.

The facility is a single-story 12 bedroom facility with 12½ handicapped-accessible and ADA compliant bathrooms. It is approximately 10,000 square feet with a formal living room, a family room, a large kitchen and dining room and expanded laundry capabilities.

Since inception, The Fisher House Foundation has saved military and veteran families an estimated $165 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

The Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers.

And once again the Fisher House will hold a fundraiser at the National Museum of the USAF Saturday evening, April 30 from 6 to 10pm.

'An All American Evening' will feature silent auction items like gifts baskets for men, women and kids, plus airline tickets, get-aways and more for all price ranges and budgets will be offered.
