A University of North Florida fraternity raised money to help military families by sending rubber ducks on a race down a lazy river pool.
On Thursday afternoon, Kappa Sigma held its second annual Rubber Ducky Race. Fraternity members sold ducks to other students. The ducks then raced in the swimming pool outside the Osprey Fountains dormitory. The owner of the first duck to cross the finish line won a prize.
Fraternity members said they sold 400 ducks for this year's race.
The fraternity hoped to raise $2,400 for its Kappa Sigma Military Heroes campaign. Last year's race raised $1,200 for the charity.
Money raised through the campaign is donated directly to the Fisher House Foundation, which gives military families a "home away from home" while their loved ones are receiving care at major military and VA medical centers.
