Fisher House Foundation Fundraiser, Saturday, March 9, 1-5 p.m. at J. Roos Restaurant, 249 State Street, North Haven, CT

 

$25 donation – Buffet – Raffle – Proceeds To Benefit Military Families and Wounded Soldiers Recovering at West Haven V.A.

The Fisher House Foundation builds and maintains long term residential facilities near military hospitals nationwide to provide the families of seriously injured soldiers a home away from home during the long rehabilitation process.

The organization has raised $400,000 toward their goal of building a residential housing facility next to the V.A. Hospital in West Haven.

State Representative Dave Yaccarino and State Senator Len Fasano have teamed with the Knights of Columbus and J.Roos Restaurant to organize a fundraiser on Saturday, March 9th from 1-5pm to help their local effort.

The event is being held at J. Roos on 249 State Street in North Haven. The requested donation is $25. The event will include a buffet, raffle and presentation from state and local officials and Fisher House representatives about their efforts to help military families here in Connecticut.

Raffle prizes include: tickets to Monday night’s Women’s Big East Basketball Tournament in Hartford; theatre tickets; televisions; a Capitol tour and lunch with local legislators; a family day pass and lunch at Silver Sands Beach and Tennis Club in East Haven; and more.

Currently there are 54 Fisher Houses nationwide. Since 1990 they have provided services to 142,000 military families who have stayed more than 3.6 million days supporting their soldier during rehabilitation.

Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, who is a member of the Fisher House Leadership Council, is expected to make an appearance at the event.
