In honor of Staff Sgt. Amy Krueger of Kiel, who was killed in the Fort Hood shooting, and to benefit the Fisher House of Milwaukee and the Camo Quilt Project of Plymouth, the inaugural KruegsFest will be held June 30 at TJ’s Sports Bar and Grill, 1502 Clark St., Manitowoc.
From noon to 8 p.m., four rock bands with family ties to Krueger will be donating their time and talents to pay tribute to her. Bands playing include SugarNova (of Plymouth) featuring her cousins Dave Howell and Curtis Voigt, Consult the Briefcase (of Stevens Point/Milwaukee) with cousin Shaun Krueger, the Charlie Bucket Band (of Manitowoc) with uncle Dan Krueger, and a special reunion set by the Deweys, who will be playing together for the first time in nearly eight years.
In addition to live music, the benefit will feature food and beverage specials, and raffles featuring 50/50 cash prizes and other donated items will be available during the event. All proceeds will go to the Fisher House of Milwaukee and the Camo Quilt Project of Plymouth. Admission is free.
“Amy’s love for music went deep into her life, and many events with her have a song that sparks a funny episode or just an enjoyable memory,” Dan Krueger said in a news release. “We know she will be here with us, rocking along!”
