MILWAUKEE - The offficial kick-off to the 110th Harley-Davidson anniversary celebration isn’t until Thursday, but a very special event is being held Wednesday to rev-up the party.

“Here’s a great way to hop on a motorcycle, enjoy some great music, surround yourself with some great Americans and support our newest greatest generation,” said retired Captain Dan Buttery, President of the Fisher House Wisconsin.

The Fisher House will be built on the V.A. campus in Milwaukee next spring.

“Fisher House provides a home away from home for the families of the wounded warriors, those veterans and active duty personnel who are ill or they’ve sustained injury in combat.” Buttery said.

The Fisher House is built solely with donations, so when the House of Harley called, Buttery answered.

“House of Harley approached us and said we’d love for you guys to be a part of the 110th anniversary celebration,” Buttery said.

They are hoping to have 1,000 bikes in the ride.  It costs $25 to get in and that money will go to the Fisher House.  The ride kicks off at 1p at the House of Harley-Davidson, and will end at the V.A. with a wreath-laying ceremony.

Buttery is excited not only to be a part of the anniversary celebration, but to be one step closer to building a much needed house for veteran’s families.

“They need to build more of these facilities because the stay is long, with many of these recovering veterans,” Buttery said.
