CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- Members of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Johnson and Wales University collected donations outside Bank of America Stadium today for their Military Heroes campaign. Funds raised will benefit the Fisher House Foundation. Fisher House provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and their families receiving treatment at major military medical centers.
The Kappa Sigma Fraternity Brothers say its very important to help those fighting for our country. "A fraternity is similar to a brotherhood that you would have in the army. A lot of our guys would live to be over there fighting but we are here getting an education. So we want to show our support to those guys that made the decision to do that and help out the families that are coming over to help them," said Wes Bartlett.
The Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers were hoping to raise two thousand dollars by the end of the day. Fisher House serves more than 17 thousand families each year. They have two homes in North Carolina.
