The Fisher House of the Emerald Coast located on Eglin Air Force Base recently received a gift that enhances the mission of providing a home for military families when a member of their family is undergoing medical treatment at a local facility. A beautiful gazebo was donated to honor all the families needing the respite of the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast.
This gazebo was dedicated to honor the service of retired Air Force Col. and Mrs. Bill Mann Jr. It was designed and commissioned by their children, Karen and Bubba Burch of Lafayette, La., and Cindy and Jack Hogan of Atlanta, Ga., to recognize the service of their parents in the United States Air Force and their dedication to support military families.
“We are so proud of all our parents have done to serve our country and of the way they continue to support military families today," Karen Burch said. "It was natural for us also to support families serving in the military through this gift to the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast and to dedicate it to our parents for their shining example of service to others."
Home Depot and other community members volunteered their time to assemble the gazebo and spruce up the grounds. The inviting structure, with beautiful landscaping, will help ease the challenges families face during a trying time in their lives.
The Fisher House of the Emerald Coast provides a home for military families when a member of their family is undergoing medical treatment at a local facility. This service is provided free of charge to families with a service member that has served in any branch of the military.
It is not only for active duty personnel, but is also available to retirees, guards, reservists and veterans. For more information on the Fisher House or Feasting for Families, contact Kim Henderson at 259-4956 or Kim@FisherHouseEmeraldCoast.org.
