Charity dance raises £2k for Fisher House

More than £2,000 has been raised for a military charity thanks to a dance night.

Over 200 people turned up at the event - which was held at the Rubery Social Club in Droitwich Spa - and all of the money raised will go to Fisher House, a facility for military patients and their families and it allows them to spend time together in a non-clinical environment.

Friends Linda Grundy and Jayne Morris organised the evening and they are delighted by how many people showed up, the Droitwich Advertiser reports.

Ms Morris' son is a member of the Royal Engineers and so she was determined to do her bit after seeing the help injured troops were given by the organisation.

"We were keen to support Fisher House because we feel it's important for families to be close to their loved ones at a stressful time," she added.

Ms Morris added the home comforts in a purpose-built facility can make a huge difference to soldiers who are recuperating.
