Jay Leno definitely brought much needed funding to the men and women of the armed forces who are looking to get treatment for their wounds. The entertainer sold his special 2012 Prima Edizione Fiat 500, the second one imported to the U.S. by Chrysler, for ten times the asking price at a charity auction on Saturday night. The auction house listed the car at $35,000 but since it was for charity the final offer was ten times the asking price.
All the cash raised with the car will be going to the Fisher House which is a charity that provides housing for the families of wounded vets currently undergoing treatment. With the chance to help the people who serve the country, it seemed like a perfect reason to sell one of Leno’s cars.
As fans of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno know, the host loves his cars. With a special building housing some of his vehicles, there isn’t any surprise that he would be involved with such an important auction to help others even if it did mean giving up something he really loved.
Congratulations to the 2013 Newman's Own Award Winners
