New E-Z-Go vehicle helps Fisher House families

Anne Arnold was already admiring the new vehicle before it was unloaded off the truck at the Fisher House.

“That is so pretty,” said Arnold, the manager of the Fisher House at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta. “I love the red, white and blue colors.”

The red Express S6 was a gift Wednesday from manufacturer E-Z-Go as part of its relationship with Tee it up for the Troops, said Brandon Haddock, the director of communications for E-Z-Go.

“This one is special to us because it is right here in our hometown,” he said.

The Fisher House is a home for families of long-term patients at a VA or military hospital. Though it is on the campus of the Uptown Division medical center, it is about a quarter-mile from the main hospital building and some of the families make that trip several times a day, said Wendy Hepker, the interim medical center director.

“It adds up,” she said.

The donated vehicle with the white and blue seats can seat up to six.

“We call them the stretch models,” Haddock said.

Arnold was already calling it the Fisher House’s limousine.
