The Fisher House Foundation is a group that helps members of the military and their families. The Foundation's signature initiative is the Fisher House program. The program has been setup to help the men and women who have sacrificed a great deal to serve our country.
Here's how it works: The Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," which are places where family members can be close to their loved ones while they are hospitalized for injuries or illness. There is at least one "comfort house" in every major military medical center.
By law, there is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Fisher House Foundation uses donations to reimburse the individual Fisher Houses operated by the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
