Thanks for making Easter special for wounded veterans.
I would like to thank the following organizations for assisting me in the donation of over $1,000 of goods and services for the "Easter Baskets for the Brave," which were delivered on Good Friday to the Fisher House at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
Nineteen families spent Easter at the Fisher House because a family member is being treated for war injuries suffered overseas.
Some of the "guests" has spent more than two years at Fisher House while their brave son, daughter, mother, or father is being treated at Walter Reed.
Fisher House provides free or low-cost housing to veterans and military families being treated at military bases around the country.
Thanks to Homewood Suites by Hilton, Bob Evans of Massaponax, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Wal-Mart, and Olde Time Lollipops and Fudge Factory for creating the masterful baskets and special treats.
The generosity of our local businesses help to make the Fredericksburg area a special place to visit.
Hopefully, the families of these wounded veterans will be able to take advantage of Homewood Suites' room donation and be able to take a well-deserved "vacation" in this area, and forget at least for a day or two about the challenges "back home."
