A Soldier’s Smile 
by ACE Dental Resource
The A Soldier’s Smile charity events are designed to assist active soldiers and veterans in getting the dental care they require but might otherwise be ineligible for. Select dentists of the ACE dental association will be donating their time, expertise and resources to provide our troops with restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments that help them smile with confidence. 100 percent of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to help pay for the treatments that help restore the dental health of our servicemen and women. This nationwide campaign is endorsed by celebrity and decorated military veteran Montel Williams.

The Outpost

 

At 6:00 a.m. on the morning of October 3, 2009, Combat Outpost Keating was viciously attacked by Taliban insurgents. The 53 U.S. troops, having been stationed at the bottom of three steep mountains, were severely outmanned by nearly 400 Taliban fighters. Though the Americans ultimately prevailed, their casualties made it one of the war's deadliest battles for U.S. forces. And after more than three years in that dangerous and vulnerable valley a mere 14 miles from the Pakistan border, the U.S. abandoned and bombed the camp. A Pentagon investigation later concluded that there was no reason for Outpost Keating to have been there in the first place.

Society of Sponsors of the United Navy

The Society of Sponsors is composed of women who have taken part in a time honored tradition of christening a ship to be commissioned in the United States Navy or a ship that sails with the Navy, supporting the fleet in some specific way. Sponsors play a unique role for the Navy. The crew of the ship will change many times over the course of the ship's life, but the sponsor remains the same. Most of the sponsors form a warm and lasting relationship with their ship, an affiliation that is rewarding to both.
