History of the Fisher House Legacy Award

In 1999, following the passing of Fisher House Foun dation founder Zachary Fisher, the Fisher House Foundation Board of Trustees approved a resolution to pay tribute to its founder on his birth date, September 26th, each year with appropriate ceremoni es at each Fisher House location, designating the day “Fisher House Founder’s Day.” The Board of Trus tees also approved the establishment of the Fisher House Legacy Award to recognize those individuals o r organizations that have made a lasting impact on improving the quality of life for members of the Ar med Forces or veterans and their families.

The award is mirror polished, hand finished jade crystal, mounted on a marble base, etched with the Fisher House Foundation logo, and the words: Fisher House Legacy Award Recognizing a tradition of outstanding service supporting the quality of life for our military service men and women and their families.

A plate is added to the base of each award with the name of the recipient and the date of the award.
